The Small Businesses and Cafes Open For Business in Byron
With everything going on at the moment, it’s important that we continue to support our local businesses where we can.
To ensure you can experience Byron with confidence, local businesses have updated their policies and procedures in line with medical and government advice. This means that some cafes and restaurants are currently take-away only, and others have limited booking capacity.
Now, that doesn’t mean you can’t live your best acai bowl and smashed avo life. It simply means visitors need to spend a little bit more time planning out their trip.
Lucky for you, we’ve already done the work for you. Below are our top foodie recommendations which are still open for business in Byron Bay.

Which Byron Bay cafes are still open?
Bayleaf Cafe
If you’re wanting to try the local produce of Byron, Bayleaf Cafe is an absolute must! Bayleaf is passionate about supporting the most ethical and sustainable local businesses in the Northern Rivers such as Avocado Tom and The Bread Social. Make sure you try the chilli scrambled eggs.
- Open for table service from 7am – 2pm
- Takeaway open until 2:30pm
The Byron Bay General Store
Built in the 1940s, the Byron Bay General Store is an oldie but a goodie. This historic venue is both sustainable being 80% solar powered, but is also oozing with trendy, rustic “Byron vibes”.
- Open daily from 7am – 1:30pm
Sparrow
If you are a coffee lover, then you’ll be relieved to know our #1 favourite coffee shop, Sparrow, is still open for business. Serving delicious Allpress Espresso, a trip to Sparrow is the best way to start off your day in Byron.
- Open Monday to Saturday, 6am-2pm
- Sunday, 7am-12pm
The Farm Byron Bay
If you’re a Sydneysider, you might have been to the award winning Three Blue Ducks Restaurant in Bronte. But did you know they also have a Byron restaurant nestled on their 80-acre farm?
- Open daily from 7am for Breakfast and Lunch
- Open for Dinner from 5pm on Sundays
Folk
Calling all vegetarians! If you visit one cafe on your trip to Byron it needs to be Folk. Their menu is filled with sustainable buddha bowls, edible flower garnish drinks, and lots and lots of avocado!
- Open daily from 7:30am – 2:30pm
The Top Shop
The Top Shop is, quite literally, the top of the market when it comes to yummy brunch food. Currently open for home delivery or driveway pickup, grab yourself a scrumptious bacon and egg roll and pay contactless from your very own car window! Corona does have some perks if you’re lazy like we are!
- Open for home delivery and driveway pickup only from 6:30am-4pm daily.
Roadhouse
After recent renovations and corona time, Roadhouse is back up and running. They serve all your usual brunch food as well as some incredible woodfire pizza. My favourite? Hands down the Big Cheese pizza.
- Open Daily for Brunch, 7:30am-1:30pm
- Open Thursday to Sunday for Dinner from 5:30pm
Miss Margarita
If corona has taught us one thing, it’s that people do enjoy a nice drink with their dinner. Fortunately, Byron’s top mexican cantina serves them large, in charge, and with a salt rim around the outside.
- Open daily from 12pm
Woods Bangalow
Just in case we didn’t have enough brunch options, you need to try Woods Bangalow. This bohemian style walk up cafe is known for its beautiful presentation and innovative flavour pairings.
- Open daily 7:20am -2:30pm
The Rooftop at The Surf House
Shameless plug, but we also have our own rooftop bar and restaurant operating in full swing about the Surf House. Come say hi, and grab some of Byron’s cheapest happy hour drinks (only $5!) and tasty pizzas.
