We’re big advocates of staying and playing, your way.
For some, that’s being beach-bound under the sun day after day. Others might come with an empty suitcase, dedicating the trip to the local, world-renowned fashion brands. Or brunch and bar-hopping might be the main agenda for some.
But if you’re looking for a 3-day itinerary that makes the most out of Byron – from the sea to the shops to the foodie pit-stops – then this guide has you covered.
Item one on the agenda: breakfast. Roll out of bed, and take the 4 minute walk from The Surf House to Bayleaf. Here, your brekkie is served with a side of nothing-but-Byron vibes. The menu here is equal parts wholesome and heavenly; you’ll quickly realise why this is one of the town’s best hot-spots!
Next up: you’re headed for the Cape Byron walking track. Bring out your activewear and prepare yourself for dolphin-spotting and happy snapping, surrounded by a sea of the most divine turquoise water. The walk will take you through The Pass as well as Watego’s Beach, and lead you up to the Cape Byron Lighthouse. The scenery along the way is simply breathtaking. The type that reminds you: this getaway was a fantastic decision.
Grab a bite nearby The Surf House for lunch. Main Street Burger Bar, takeaway fish & chips from Fishheads or a smoothie from The Pressed Pantry all get our vote!
A quick change of clothes, and head in the car for a tasting session and tour at Cape Byron Distillery. The tours here are incredible and will take you through rainforests, experiencing native botanicals, and have you sipping on delicious gin of course! Currently, you can book your 2-hour tours in advance via their website, at either 11:30am – 1:30pm, or 2:30pm – 4:30pm.
Back at The Surf House, take some time to chill out at the Rooftop Bar. Enjoy sundowners under the umbrellas, or enjoy a game of pool amongst the artisan textiles and trinkets sourced from around the globe.
When you’re ready (there’s no rushing here – you’re on holiday mode), walk 200m down the street to Miss Margarita where you’ll settle in for a vibrant Mexican fare. Share the jalapeno poppers, fresh guacamole, and mouthwatering tacos… and add in a Tommy’s Margarita for good measure!
It wouldn’t be a trip to Byron without hitting the waves! Take advantage of our complimentary surfboard hire and hit the waves (did we mention that Main Beach is just 50m away from our doors?). If you haven’t surfed before, then take up a half day class with the legends at Soul Surf School.
After a morning spent by the sea, you’ll now head out to the Arts & Industrial Estate for the afternoon. Homewares, fashion and food is the golden trifecta that you’ll be faced with in this area. How to spend your time in the Industrial Estate:
Village Guide have put together this helpful map which is your bible to everything in Byron’s Industrial Estate!
Again, happy hour at the Rooftop Bar is your golden hour go-to. Soak in the balmy Byron air as the sun goes down, and chill out from the day that was.
For dinner, head to Bang Bang, just 170m down the road, where Melbourne chefs serve up the very best Asian-fusion cuisine. Flavour-bomb galore is the go here. Our tip is to order some ‘Little Bangs’, a ‘Big Bang’ and a curry. And a couple cocktails. And the dessert. Ok, we’ll stop. But just remember: Bang Bang.
It’s been a big few days of eating, drinking and doing, so we’re going to take it a bit more chill today.
Enjoy some breakfast from your choice of The Top Shop, Sunday Sustainable Bakery, or Folk Cafe. Afterwards, take some time to enjoy the local boutiques in Byron. Some of the world’s most loved brands are based right here in Byron, including Spell, Arnhem and Rowie and St Agni – be sure to check out their gorgeous stores.
To continue the theme of rest and rejuvenation, take the afternoon to enjoy Byron’s beaches: sunbaking, in the sea, or out on the surf again! You can take your pick of the beaches:
Your final dinner! Never an easy decision, but tonight head to The Mez Club: your dose of Mediterranean meets Middle East, in a dreamy setting. Share mezze, sip on cocktails, and reflect on the past three days of bliss.
PS. The Mez Club featured in our round up of Byron Bay’s best bars – take a peek if you’re keen for bar-hopping!
